For the weaving of “Futurecraft Strung” shoe upper, Adidas adopted the use of a robot , obtaining a highly customisable product in terms of material, pattern and foot shape. The fabric – the first on the market – is a result of a research loop starting from designing to simulation, carried out in collaboration with Kram/Weisshaar studio. Adidas’s intent is that of responding to individual needs of the athletes in order to develop codes, software and robots at a level of excellence enough to share the company’s know-how at a commercial pace by the end of 2021.
